Part of being a wedding planner is visiting a lot of wedding venues. Sometimes I visit wedding venues with a specific client brief in mind and sometimes just for my own research. So it thought it made sense to blog about some of the places I visit. These blogs are going to be purely factual, taking your through my venue checklist but I hope these help you to see the practical things that I look at when looking around a wedding venue. I also hope I can introduce you to some hidden wedding venue gems!

Lattenbury Hill, Cambridge

Kicking off then with Lattenbury Hill, a Cambridgeshire wedding venue for marquee and tipi weddings. Lattenbury Hill is a blank canvas field venue within a beautiful cambridgeshire farm. It is also the venue which is hosting the Rustic Wedding Show this April! Visit here to find out more about the show!

Type of Venue

Field Venue pitch for Marquee, Tipi, Yurt or other structure.

Dry Hire Venue.

What is Dry Hire? Dry hire essentially means that they provide the space and you bring everything else in. You source all of your own suppliers rather than using theirs (although they may recommend people). In the case of an outdoor venue like this one, it means that you get the space and you need to bring in the marquee, furniture, power etc.

Venue Access Days

For a weekend wedding you get access to the site from the Wednesday before until the Monday after.

This is important because a lot of structure hire companies will not be able to tell you exactly what day they will deliver and collect until 8 weeks prior to your wedding. They normally work to a Thursday to Monday schedule so you need to be sure you have venue access on all of these days. If you do not get access until the Friday that may be an issue you need to flush out early on with the venue / structure provider.

You also need a day for the structure to go up and then possibly a day for your florist, styling team and/or lighting installation team to go in if you are having elaborate installations that cannot be done on the morning of the wedding.

Next Day Event / Survivors Party Allowed

Yes couples can return the following day and use the site until 5pm.

  • No fireworks
  • No Chinese lanterns.

Lattenbury has a great car park which can fit plenty of cars. It is sad that I get excited about this kind of thing but it is one of practicalities that just makes life easier for you.
